I Swear I Heard Dogs Barking Last Night

When I was young I lived two blocks from the ocean.  After a party at my house one night, a friend spent the night after drinking too much.  In the morning she complained that she must have been so drunk that she hallucinated since she heard dogs barking all night long.  I opened the patio door to the sound of the sea lions and watched as it took a moment to sink in.
